Man stabbed in face with a screwdriver in Gloucester

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in the face with a screwdriver. Officers are concerned for the man’s welfare following reports he sustained a puncture wound to his cheek after a man used the tool as a weapon and stabbed him in the face with it.

The incident took place inside Andy Cars on Eastgate Street, in Gloucester. Police say the victim walked away from the scene, but officers would like to trace the man so that they can check on his injury and ensure he is safe and well.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon, in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing to a man who was assaulted with a screwdriver in Gloucester in the early hours of Saturday morning (25 May) to come forward.

"Officers are concerned for the man’s welfare following reports he sustained a puncture wound to his cheek after a man used the tool as a weapon and stabbed him in the face with it.

"The victim left the scene following the incident which took place inside Andy Cars on Eastgate Street at around 4.10am. Officers would like to trace the man so that they can check on his injury and ensure he is safe and well.

"A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

"Officers would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have any relevant mobile phone or CCTV footage. Information can be provided to police online by completing this form, and quoting incident 49 of May 25."
