Man stabbed near Erdington High Street rushed to hospital in serious condition
A man was rushed hospital with serious injures after being stabbed near Erdington High Street. The victim, understood to be aged in his 40s, was stabbed on Coton Lane at around 3.14pm today (September 10).
Police sealed off the small street shortly after the attack. The road remained closed tonight while officers carried out enquiries.
Majid, who lives on Newman Road, directly opposite the scene, told us: “It’s unusual when there’s not trouble here, to be honest. I’m thinking about moving out, honestly.”

Shopkeepers also raised concerns about violence in the area. One told us: "Police seem to be here all the time. It's not good."
West Midlands Police tonight urged anyone with information about this incident to contact the force. A police spokesperson said: "We were called by ambulance staff to a report of a stabbing on Coton Lane, Erdington at around 3.15pm today.
"A man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Coton Lane remains closed while we investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that could help our investigation, is urged to call us on 101 quoting log 3118 10/9/24"
