Man suffers head injury after assault with golf club in east Hull

A man was struck over the head with a golf club and taken to hospital in a late-night incident in east Hull.

The 28-year-old victim was reportedly attacked at around 11:30pm on Thursday evening (July 4) in Greenwich Avenue. Witnesses said they saw a heavy police presence and officers put up a cordon near Heron Foods while they investigated the incident.

Humberside Police said it is still investigating but the cordon has been taken down.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "Officers were in attendance on Greenwich Avenue in Hull after a man was reportedly assaulted in the street with a golf club at around 11.30pm last night (Thursday 4 July). Emergency services were deployed, and a 28-year-old man was taken to hospital to receive treatment to a head injury."

Detective Inspector Andy Crawforth said: “A scene guard was in place whilst officers carried out lines of enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. I can confirm this has now been removed.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and may have saw anything that could assist with our enquiries, to contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 644 of 4 July.
