A man was rushed to hospital with a head injury after a “disturbance” in a busy Southend street.

Police, medics and the air ambulance were called to Southchurch Road just before 5pm last night.

Officers say a man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been released under investigation.

The force is appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “We responded to reports of a disturbance in Southchurch Road, Southend shortly before 5pm on Friday 13 May. A man was found injured and has been taken to hospital with a head injury where he remains.

“A 16 year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been released under investigation. We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us.
