Man suffers 'serious injuries' after alleged village assault

A man has suffered serious injuries after reportedly being pushed over in a Leicestershire village. The victim was walking from a bus stop when he was attacked from behind in Kirby Muxloe, say police.

The incident reportedly happened sometime between 6.35pm and 6.55pm last Monday (January 27). The victim, who is 64, had just got off a bus and was walking towards a zebra crossing near Barwell Road when he was pushed to the ground, leaving him with a fractured hip that required hospital treatment.

Officers say the suspect made off from the area, and are keen to identify the person responsible. Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Leicestershire Police said today (Monday, February 3) that they are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time. They would also like to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area last Monday evening and has dashcam equipment installed in their vehicles.
