Man taken to hospital after road accident near Irvine

A man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after a car accident near Irvine.

Towerlands Road is closed following the incident which involved a car and a tree.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1.35pm on Thursday, and people are currently being advised to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Towerlands Road in Irvine is closed between Springside and Dreghorn due to a serious road crash.

"Emergency services were called to the collision involving a car and a tree around 1.35pm on Thursday, 26 September, 2024.

"One man has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing and people are being advised to avoid the area."
