Man taken to RVI with serious head injury after crash between car and quad bike in Northumberland
A man has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle after a serious crash in Northumberland.
Emergency services were called to the Whittingham Junction on the A697 shortly after 5pm on Thursday evening. It was reported that a car and a quad bike collided.
ChronicleLive understands that the road has been closed in both directions between Carmintedge Bank to the B6341 (New Moor Crossroads), near Rothbury.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call to 999 at 17:07 this evening to reports of a road traffic incident at the Whittingham Junction on the A697, involving a car and quad bike.
"We dispatched a clinical team leader, specialist paramedic, doctor and two emergency ambulance crews to the scene. We transported one male patient with a pre alert to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with a serious head injury."
