Man 'threw petrol at pharma offices', court hears

A Didcot man was due before an Oxford court accused of throwing ‘petrol’ at the Milton offices of a global pharmaceutical company.

Daniel Matyi, 30, was not present at Oxford Crown Court for the plea and trial preparation hearing this morning (June 23).

The Hungarian national is accused of dousing what is suspected to have been petrol at the front of the offices of Ipsen Biosciences Ltd in Park Drive, Milton, on May 8. He was said to have been interrupted by a security guard in the building.

He faces charges of attempted arson with intent and attempted criminal damage at the same premises.

When Matyi, of Wessex Road, Didcot, did not appear at court for his plea hearing on Thursday, Judge Michael Gledhill QC adjourned the case for a week. Matyi has been remanded in custody.
