Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer is confident Jamal Musiala will stay at the club for years to come amid links with Manchester City and Manchester United.

The talented midfielder has put top European clubs on red alert after reportedly turning down a contract offer from the German giants. Musiala is under contract until 2026 at the Allianz Arena.

While Bayern are determined to extend his stay at the club, City are reported to be front-runners for his signature. Arsenal, Liverpool, United and Real Madrid are also credited with an interest.

Hainer meanwhile, believes Bayern is the right place for the 21-year-old to continue his development as a player and could become the next Thomas Muller, who has been at the club for over 20 years. "I have a lot of respect for Jamal," he told Abendzeitung Muenchen.

"When you see how he has developed, it's incredible. We want to do everything we can to keep him at FC Bayern in the long term. In my opinion, he could easily become the next Thomas Müller and play here for the next 20 years. I'm very optimistic."

Meanwhile, sporting director Christoph Freund revealed talks are ongoing over a contract extension. "It's a very important topic for us," he said. "Jamal should be one of the faces of the club in the coming years and it's our big wish to keep him at the club.

"He's a fantastic player and does special things on the pitch. Fans come to the stadium to watch players like him. We're in talks, we have a good relationship with Jamal and his entourage. We want to keep him."
