Former Manchester United manager Ralph Ragnick has admitted that he loves current club transfer target Michael Olise. It comes with the Austrian head coach speaking before his side face France on Monday night.

Olise is not part of Didier Deschamps' stacked squad despite having another impressive season in England. The 22-year-old, who was representing France's Under-21s last summer before picking up an injury that hampered his campaign, managed to score 10 times in the Premier League in 2023/24.

He only started 14 games in total, appearing in just 19, but still got the same as both Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund, who were United's joint top scorers. Only Fernandes assisted more than Olise's six as well.

With Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, and countless others all keeping their place in the national side, Olise was once more left out by Deschamps, and it is to Ragnick's delight. The slight irony here is that United are pushing to sign the Crystal Palace winger.

They are one of the frontrunners in a competitive race to bring in Olise, who is also being pursued by Chelsea, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich. If Ragnick's word is anything to go by then United are fishing in the right ponds.

“He has never been called up by France but I love Michael Olise,” Rangnick told French outlet L’Equipe. “If only he had Austrian origins!

“He is an exceptional player. He is quick, a strong dribbler, technically gifted and he works when he loses the ball. Whenever I saw him play, he had a smile on his face. I am not unhappy that Deschamps didn’t call him up!”

Ragnick isn't the only figure associated with United to be taken in by Olise either. Teddy Sheringham suggested that he was a player that the club are right to be going after.
