Manchester United vs Liverpool - LIVE!

Manchester United and Liverpool will play their rearranged Premier League fixture on Thursday, May 13 after remarkable scenes at Old Trafford last Sunday which saw one of the biggest games in English football postponed.

United fans gathered outside the stadium to protest against the Glazer family’s ownership of the club, with long-standing dissatisfaction having been brought to the fore following their key role in the proposals to form a breakaway European Super League.

We had seen similar protests at the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in recent weeks, but at Old Trafford around 100 fans managed to breach the stadium perimeter and get inside the ground, onto the pitch.

There were increasingly hostile scenes outside the ground as an initially peaceful protest featuring thousands of disgruntled United supporters led to two police officers being injured.

Hundreds of protesting United fans also gathered outside The Lowry Hotel in Salford, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were staying in advance of their clash with Liverpool.

After no shortage of uncertainty, the Premier League, Trafford Council and both clubs eventually agreed to postpone the fixture on safety grounds.

It is the first time that fan protests have caused a Premier League match to be postponed, and the rearranged fixture date means United now face three League games in the space of five days.
