Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho has deleted the social media post in which he blasted Erik ten Hag’s comments about his poor performances in training.
After leaving the England winger out of the squad for United’s Premier League match at Arsenal, Ten Hag confirmed that Sancho missed out as he did not train well enough in the week leading up to the Emirates defeat.
“Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him,” the Dutch manager said in his post-match press conference.
“You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”
Writing on X shortly after his manager’s comments, Sancho denied that he has trained poorly and claimed he has become a “scapegoat” at Old Trafford.
He said: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, l’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! “All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.
“I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and (am) grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.
“I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
After pinning the post to the top of his X profile, Sancho left it up on social media until Tuesday evening when he decided to take it down, potentially in what is a public apology to Ten Hag. Better late than never, eh?

Sancho has unsurprisingly been linked with a transfer away from the Red Devils and Al-Ettifaq were reportedly keen on bringing him in before the Saudi Pro League transfer window closed last Thursday.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand says he is not sure what Ten Hag will do with the 23-year-old.
“One of the big issues now is what happens to Sancho,” he said on his Vibe with Five podcast. “I think the manager will be thinking, ‘If I play him, or put him straight back in after what he has done, what message does that send to the squad?’.
“I think what is going to mean a lot is how he addresses the squad, if he makes the decision by playing him straight away. If he addresses the squad and says, ‘Listen, this is why it is happening, guys, and on another day he doesn’t play’, or whatever.
“I think he will either go that way or just say, ‘He isn’t playing. This week he’s out. I do need him but I’ll let him go out’. He could then play Garnacho and Pellistri etc. and then go from there.”
