While going on holiday is always fun, there are things you need to be cautious of.

From scams to pick pockets to overpriced goods - there are so many things to think about when we travel. One man also drew attention to the fact that Brits are also often warned about certain areas that could be unsafe.

During a recent trip to Tenerife, Ishaq Patterson said he visited what he describes as the "most dangerous strip" in the holiday hotspot. He went there in the daytime to see what it's really like – and it wasn't quite what he expected.

In a TikTok clip, he said: "Right now I'm solo travelling, and a lot of people were saying in the comments that Tenerife is not as bad as I put it out to be.

"Guys, what you have to rememeber is, for different people, they're going to find scenerios different. For example, if you're a girl by yourself it's going to be very dangerous but, if you're a guy with a group of people, you're going to be completely fine."

He added: "Right now it's completely safe. It's daytime. No places are open right now. You got the kebab shop, you got Veronica's, Oasis - all closed right now.

"And a lot of the people who are potentially going to rob you, or offer you like weed and stuff, they're working right now so they're selling random fake stuff. It's absolutely safe here in the daytime."

He admitted when he visited the area at night it was a "different story". During the darker hours, he confessed the area is "dangerous", but he thinks it's completely fine in the day based on his personal experience.

Ishaq admitted different people have different experiences, so it's always wise to bear this in mind. It's clear people had contrasting viewpoints in the comments too.

One person said: "I've walked past Veronica's all times of day and night by myself. Never felt unsafe once." Another wrote: "It's safe bro." A third also replied: "Done it by myself in July. Never felt scared."

Over the last few years, there have been many reports about this particular strip. On TripAdvisor it's said to be a place where "drug dealers" and "pick pockets" hang around, so it's not advised you head there alone, especially at night.

People have differing opinions on the strip though, as some claimed you just need to be vigilant when visiting. Tourists' experiences really do vary when it comes to Tenerife.

One person claimed: "There are a lot of scare stories kicking about but, to be honest, Veronica's is not that bad. Yes, there are a few dealers hanging around, but they don't bother you. If you don't have mobile phones or valuables on display then the pickpockets won't be interested."

Another wrote: "People can harp on and say there are drugs, muggings and so on everywhere, but remember that you are in a foreign country where the rules are different to the UK. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable allowing any of my family to spend a late night on Veronica's, but the choice is yours."

A third also argued: "Avoid this place - it’s hell. Full of criminals ready to pounce on some unsuspecting young person."
