Man went to buy lottery ticket now he's fighting for his life
A man who went to buy a lottery ticket is now fighting for his life in hospital. Emergency services were called at around 7.15pm on Friday, November 22, to reports a Toyota Prius had hit a pedestrian at the junction of Wellington Road and Rathbone Road in Wavertree.
The pedestrian, a man who is believed to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Toyota stopped at the scene and a large cordon was put in place while enquiries were ongoing. The pedestrian remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition police confirmed.
A member of the man's family told the ECHO: "I want people to know he was just going to the shop to get a lottery ticket when it happened. He lives in the area, he was two minutes away from his house."

Merseyside Police have issued an update following the incident. A spokesperson for the force said today: "The man injured in Friday’s collision in Wavertree is still in hospital in a serious but stable condition."
