Man And Woman Arrested Over Terror Claims

A man and a woman from Berkshire have been arrested on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism in the UK.

Police say they believe the 24-year-old man and 23-year-old woman are friends.

His home in Reading and hers in Wokingham are being searched following the arrests by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), assisted by officers from the South East CTU.

A statement issued by West Midlands Police said the pair were being taken to a police station in the region for questioning.

Both were arrested under terrorism legislation, meaning officers have an initial 48 hours to charge, release or apply for a warrant of further detention.
