Man and woman in court on assault to danger of life charge after 39-year-old dies in Aberdeen

A man and a woman have appeared in court charged with assault to danger of life following the death of a man in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to a property in the city's Rosehill Crescent at around 10.45pm on Saturday.

A 39-year-old man, who has not yet been named, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.

Mark Riddell, 36, and Leah Knight, 28, were arrested in connection with the incident and appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

The pair, from Aberdeen, made no plea to the charge of assault to danger of life.

Both Riddell and Knight were remanded in custody and are due back in court within the next week.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) and watchdog Police Investigation and Review Commissioner (PIRC) have been notified of the case.

A Police Scotland spokesperson previously said: "The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and the Police Investigation and Review Commissioner have been informed and it would therefore be inappropriate to comment further."
