Man and woman who died in tragic Redruth crash were husband and wife

A husband and wife who tragically died in a crash in Redruth have been named. The family of Michael ‘Mick’ Page and Elizabeth Gillian Page, better known as Gill, have paid an emotional tribute to the couple who were married for 55 years.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Southgate Street at around 1.30pm on Monday (September 23). Emergency services rushed to the scene but Mick and Gill, who lived locally, were sadly pronounced dead.

Their family said: “Mick and Gill were loved, admired and respected by so many; family, friends and neighbours. They were married for 55 years and stood by each other through thick and thin.

“Gill, a devoted wife with a huge and unceasing sense of duty and caring towards her husband Mick. Mick trained as a mechanical engineer with British Rail and before his retirement was working at RNAS Culdrose Helston. Everyone loved being around him because of his innate and persistent sense of humour.

“They were proud of their son Tristan's achievements and his dear family. They were loved by so many and will both be sorely missed”.

Crash investigation continues

The road was closed while an investigation took place. Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage of the crash to come forward.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "If you witnessed the incident or have any information or dashcam footage that could help with enquiries, please contact police via our website here or by calling 101 quoting log number 329 of 23 September."
