Man and woman found dead in home in near New Lenox identified, sheriff’s office says

Authorities are investigating after a man and a woman were found dead Sunday evening with gunshot wounds inside home in unincorporated Will County near New Lenox, according to a bulletin from the Will County sheriff’s office.

Police identified the pair Tuesday as Jeanette Cunliffe, 57, and Clayton Cunliffe, 58, according to the sheriff’s office. A woman called 911 after she checked on her parents and found them dead in a bedroom of a home on the 23000 block of South Spencer Road, according to the statement.

The woman told emergency workers she had not spoken to her parents for several days before she went to check on them, the sheriff’s office said.

Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Will County coroner’s office. The sheriff’s office is investigating the deaths and said there is no danger to other residents.
