The temporary manager of a popular community pub has told StokeonTrentLive he wants the job full-time. Barry Pendlebury, aged 42, who formerly ran Darcy's in Fenton, has been in charge at The Beverley, in Bentilee, since September.

He has enjoyed it so much he would like to stay at the Caldmore Taverns venue on a permanent basis. It followed the departure of the previous licensee to The Globe, in Tunstall.

Barry said: "They offered me this and I jumped at it. It is brilliant. I have inherited an absolutely brilliant team. It is a family pub and we have customers, young and old. It is a brilliant community pub. Raising money for charity is going to be a regular event at this pub. I hope to be here for a long time."
