Manchester Airport delays: Flights grounded at transport hub after 'issue with fuel supply'
Many flights have been grounded at Manchester Airport after a “power issue”, causing travel misery for thousands of holidaymakers.
Travellers have been left facing lengthy delays after some flights were cancelled.
The airport said a “power issue” had been responsible for the delays on Sunday.
The airport, which is still open, urged people to check with their airline for information and updates.

One frustrated passenger claimed they had been sat on the runway of the airport for over an hour.
Paul McWhirter wrote on Twitter: “Sat on the runway at Manchester Airport for one and a half hours [with] half a cup of water and nothing happening.”

Heads up on anyone is flying out of #ManchesterAirport this evening - no flights leaving atm as there’s no fuel! They’ll only tell you once you’re ON THE PLANE. Been sat on the tarmac for 90 minutes.

An airport spokesman said there were a total of 69 cancellations. Twenty-seven of the cancelled flights were arrivals and 21 were departures.
In a statement, the airport said: “Due to a power issue this afternoon, there is currently an issue with the fuel supply at the airport and we have engineers on-site working to fix this.
“Please speak to your airline for specific flight information and updates.”
