Manchester's Arndale shopping centre evacuated hours after suicide attack

The Arndale shopping centre in Manchester has been evacuated hours after 22 people died in a terror attack in the city.

People were seen running from the area near the large shopping area in the centre of the city.

A heavy armed police presence was seen near the site as the evacuation was underway.

Alice Williams wrote of her fear online. She posted: "We've been evacuated from Arndale and market street.

"A lot of very scared people right now. Stay safe, be smart."

Another person wrote: "Chaos on Market Street. Arndale Centre is evacuated. Genuinely terrified."

Last night 22 people were killed including children and 59 injured in a suicide bomb blast at the Manchester Arena during a performance by Ariana Grande.

Police said a man was arrested at the scene and that the incident at the Arndale centre was not linked to the terror attack.
