Oxford United vs Manchester City
EFL Cup 2018/19
Venue: Kassam Stadium
Kick-off: 7:45pm BST

Oxford United will be hoping to stage one of the biggest EFL Cup shocks in recent memory as they host holders Manchester City this evening.

Pep Guardiola's City won a Premier League and EFL Cup double last season, and while the priority now will be going further in the Champions League, the Catalan coach will not want to fail in the defence of a domestic trophy so early on this term.

Team news

Man City are set to make a raft of changes to the side that thrashed Cardiff at the weekend.

Brazilian defender Danilo could make his first appearance of the season, having been sidelined since injuring his ankle at the World Cup, while fringe first-teamers Oleksandr Zinchenko and Brahim Diaz are set to be involved.

Nicolas Otamendi and Riyad Mahrez may feature in the third-round clash, while manager Pep Guardiola is weighing up whether to hand a City debut to teenage goalkeeper Arijanet Muric.

Provisional squad: Ederson, Muric, Grimshaw, Walker, Danilo, Stones, Otamendi, Kompany, Laporte, Delph, Zinchenko, Gundogan, Fernandinho, B Silva, D Silva, Mahrez, Sane, Sterling, Foden, Diaz, Aguero, Jesus.
