Manchester City denied Tottenham a first trophy in 13 years as Aymeric Laporte’s late header sealed a 1-0 win in the Carabao Cup Final.

Here is how Jack Rosser rated the players at Wembley….

Manchester City (4-3-3): Steffen 6, Walker 6, Dias 6, Laporte 6, Joao Cancelo 7, Gundogan 6, Fernandinho 6 (Rodri 6), De Bruyne 8 (Silva 6), Mahrez 7, Sterling 6, Foden 6.

Subs not used: Ake, Jesus, Aguero, Zinchenko, Torres, Mendy, Ederson.

Star man: Kevin de Bruyne. Had Harry Kane been in the City team then the Belgian would have perhaps clocked up a hat-trick of assists. Instead he had to settle for just one but still pulled the strings in midfield.

Tottenham (4-3-3): Lloris 8, Aurier 5 (Bergwijin 6), Alderweireld 7, Dier 7, Reguilon 5, Winks 7, Hojbjerg 5 (Alli 6), Lo Celso 6 (Sissoko 6), Lucas Moura 6 (Bale 6), Kane 6, Son 5.

Subs not used: Sanchez, Lamela, Hart, Tanganga, Ndombele.

Star man: Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman made a string of stunning saves to keep Spurs in the game for so long but could do nothing to prevent Laporte’s goal that gave City a record fourth consecutive Carabao Cup.
