Pots and seedings
As the winner of Group A, United know they will be pitted against one of the group runner-ups from Pot Two.
Who Manchester United could face…
Uefa rules stipulate that two sides from the same country cannot face one another in the last 16, meaning that Group C’s second-ranked side, Chelsea, are out of the equation. Likewise, Manchester United cannot be paired with FC Basel, who they met in the group stages.
So who could they face?
Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid are all confirmed possibilities for United. With Liverpool topping Group E then United can also face Sevilla.
Other possibilities are FC Porto from Group G or Shakhtar Donetsk from Group F and FC Porto from Group G.
When is the draw?
The draw will take place at Uefa headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday, December 11. The draw is set to get underway at 11am GMT, and you can follow it LIVE on Standard Sport.
