Manchester United games Bruno Fernandes will miss as Erik ten Hag handed nightmare scenario
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes will miss the next three Premier League matches after his red card against Tottenham.
United were reduced to 10 men on the stroke of half-time when the Portuguese international slipped, catching James Maddison high in the process. Referee Chris Kavanagh wasted no time and brandished a straight red card, with the Premier League explaining that Fernandes was dismissed for serious foul play.
The afternoon went from bad to worse for Erik ten Hag's side after Brennan Johnson opened the scoring after just three minutes. Micky Van de Ven's powerful run split the United defence, and the Wales international was on hand at the back-post to make it four goals in as many games.

United had their chances, but Spurs looked the more threatening with Johnson rattling the post. Already a goal down, United's task of overturning the deficit was made greater by Fernandes.
The 30-year-old picked up the first red card of his United career and his first since 2019 when he was sent off for Sporting CP in a 1-1 draw with Boavista.
Fernandes will be available for selection as United travel to FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday; however, he is set to be out of top-flight action until November. Fernandes is likely to next be back in contention for play domestically against Leicester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on October 29.
