Police have released an image of a man they want to trace after a car ploughed into crowds outside a celebrity hangout while up to 60 people brawled in the street.

Officers say Martin Stokes, 23, may hold key information about the violent scenes in Brentwood High Street outside Sugar Hut nightclub.

During the brawl, which flared in the early hours of Sunday, April 2, two men and a woman were knocked down by a car that was driven away from the scene.

Two victims were seriously injured and one of the victims remains in a critical condition in hospital more than a fortnight after the horrific incident, Essex Police say.

Mr Stokes is described as 6ft, of a stocky build with light brown mousy hair, and officers say he has links to Northern Ireland, Hertfordshire, Essex and London.

DI Stuart Truss, senior investigating officer from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "We need to speak to Stokes in connection with this incident and we urge him to come forward.

"We also urge anyone who has information or knows of his whereabouts to get in contact with our investigation team.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Brentwood Major Investigations Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymous on 0800 555 111. Alternatively you can email www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
