A manhunt is under way after a fatal stabbing near a Solihull nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and violent disorder, one of whom is also suspected of robbery. Another man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detective Inspector Jim Mahon called the arrests “a significant development” in the investigation but asked for “the public’s help in tracing Blake, who we believe was involved in Jack’s murder”.
“Anyone who may be shielding him through a sense of misguided loyalty, should be aware that they are committing an offence and will be prosecuted,” he said.
“It’s vitally important that we speak to Blake. My message to him is to do the right thing and let us know where you are.”
Police were called to Poplar Road near Popworld nightclub and Yates Bar in Solihull at 3am on Saturday.
Mr Donoghue, aged 21, was found with serious injuries and died in hospital.
Police launched a murder investigation and said they believed five men to have been involved in the attack, none of whom were known to Mr Donoghue.
Mr Donoghue’s family have said they are “devastated” about the death of their “fun-loving, doting son”: “His laughter and smile filled every room. He had a massive heart and he loved and cared for his family and friends. He would do anything for anyone.”
They added: “We are appealing to anyone who knows anything about what happened to our Jack to come forward with any information that may help the police to give us answers we desperately need.”
Police asked anyone who sees Mr Blake to ring 999 immediately and not to approach him.
