Man's body found in Marine Lake
A man's body was pulled from a lake this evening. Emergency services were called to Marine Lake by the Promenade in Southport, at around 6.45pm on Tuesday, September 10, following reports of a body in the water.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses described seeing a cordon in place around the lake and police surrounding the area this evening. People are being asked to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm officers are in Southport today, Tuesday 10 September. Emergency services were contacted just after 6.45pm following reports that the body of a man had been discovered in the lake.

"The man was removed and he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and notify his next of kin. The area around the lake is currently cordoned off and we ask people to avoid the area."
