Man's body found in Southport park as police seal off area

Police have confirmed a body has been found in a park.

The tragic discovery was made just before 5.30am today (October 11). Emergency services descended on Hesketh Park in Southport following reports that a body of a man in his 50s was found.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner and police believe the man is Latvian and are tracing his next-of-kin.

Merseyside Police remain in the area and a police scene is currently in place, the ECHO reports. This morning, a number of police cars and a scientific support vehicle were in attendance at the scene.
