Manslaughter Arrests Over Water Park Death

Two people arrested following the death of a 5-year-old boy at a water park were detained on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence, police have said.

The child, named locally as Charlie Dunn, died in hospital after being pulled from a lake at Bosworth Water Park Warwickshire.

He was reportedly found by an 11-year-old boy searching for a pair of goggles.

Leicestershire Police said the two people arrested had since been bailed, and declined to confirm their ages.

It is believed the youngster had been visiting the park, which is near Market Bosworth and Nuneaton, with his mother and stepfather.

A police spokesman said: "Our investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.

"We would continue to ask people not to speculate about the incident and the circumstances surrounding the death and leave the authorities to carry out their investigations."

Anyone who has video footage recorded near the park's Blue Lagoon beach and paddling area are asked to contact police.

A statement on the park's Facebook page said: "From all of the staff at Bosworth Water Park, we would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this tragic loss of life."

There are several signs in the Blue Lagoon area urging adults to supervise children at all times.

Writing on Facebook, the young boy's grandmother said: "Would like to thank everyone involving in trying to help the emergency services and a big thank you to Walgrave Hospital for the help and support.

"I am a family member it was my grandson please do not speculate as no one really knows what happened, but it is a very sad time for us all and a very sad loss of such a young life."

Urging people not to criticise the parents, she said they had enough to deal with "coming to terms with the loss of such a lovely happy funny handsome little angel".

Another auntie said: "We will never know why he went by the water but it's something his family will have to live with for the rest of their lives."
