A Limavady manufacturing company is creating 62 jobs as part of ambitious expansion plan which aims to triple turnover by 2027.

Seating Matters, which designs and manufactures therapeutic seats, will see £3.7 million invested in the company’s facilities in Limavady and Derry/Londonderry.

It will create a manufacturing centre of excellence and will allow it to develop its range of products aimed at helping patients by providing appropriate seating throughout their care.

It was founded in 2008 by Martina Tierney, an expert in acute and community care, nursing homes and rehabilitation who set out to design clinical seating to transform the lives of patients.

Martin Tierney, Managing Director of Seating Matters and Martina’s son, said the investment readies the business for the future.

“With increased production capacity and over 60 new staff, we will be ready to scale rapidly and further ourselves as an award-winning exporter known for products which dramatically impact the lives of the most dependent patients in our society, and the people who care for them,” he said.

“We are growing rapidly in global markets and set our sights on further export growth in Europe, North America and Australia. Our deep understanding of patients' medical conditions, the caregivers needs in providing care and the latest clinical research will give us a competitive edge to do this.”

Economy Minister Conor Murphy announced the investment on a visit to the companies headquarters.

“In recent years Seating Matters has invested in advanced technologies to boost productivity which has contributed to its growth. This latest investment will further expand its capacity and enable it to produce even more products efficiently. I’m also pleased that Seating Matters is driven by continuous improvement in its drive for sustainability and efficiency.”
