A NEW Covid hotspot has emerged in Southampton – and most neighbourhoods are seeing an increase in case numbers.

Freemantle now has a case rate of 1,608.5 per 100,000 residents, meaning it sits in the worst possible category.

It is the only city district to be in this category, and reported 129 cases in the seven days to January 22, up 38 when compared to the week before.

This was the latest data available and shows only six districts reported a decrease in cases over the same period.
