Map shows worst airline routes for delays at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport

There's no worse way to start your holiday than arriving at the airport to find out your flight has been delayed or cancelled.

Our new interactive map shows you the worst airline routes for delays at both Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport. Nearly two in three flights are delayed on the worst airline route in your area and you can see how yours compare.

Analysis of the latest figures from the Civil Aviation Authority reveals 63% of Jet2 flights from Manchester to Malta were delayed by at least 15 minutes in the 12 months to April.

This means the Jet2 flight from Manchester to Malta has the worst record of any route from Manchester and Liverpool airport. Also high in the rankings for delays were Jet2 flights from Manchester to Barcelona with 61% of flights delayed by at least 15 minutes last year.

They were followed by Ryanair flights from Liverpool to Kosice (59%) and Aer Lingus flights from Manchester to New York JFK, Jet2 flights from Manchester to Tenerife and Ryanair flights from Liverpool to Barcelona (all 58%).

The only thing worse than a delayed flight is a cancelled one and thankfully these are relatively rare at both Manchester and Liverpool airports.

Loganair flights to Inverness were the most likely to be cancelled at Manchester airport last year but only 7% of were scrapped between May 2023 and April 2024. And EasyJet flights to Barcelona had the worst cancellation record at Liverpool airport but only 3% were actually cancelled on this route last year.
