Maple Leafs sign Calle Jarnkrok to four-year contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs continued their flurry of signings on Friday, inking forward Calle Jarnkrok to a four-year deal that carries a $2.1 million average annual value.

NHL insider Chris Johnston reports the deal includes a limited no-trade clause. Jarnkrok is the sole Maple Leafs forward under contract through 2025-26, joining Morgan Rielly as the only players the club has committed to beyond 2024-25.

Jarnkrok split the 2021-22 campaign between the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames, scoring a combined 12 goals and 30 points in 66 games. He added one goal and three assists in 12 playoff games with the Flames.

The 30-year-old is a veteran of 574 regular season NHL games, scoring 106 goals to go along with 135 assists over his career. He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round (51st overall) in 2010.

Jarnkrok has competed internationally on several occasions for his native Sweden, winning a gold medal at the 2013 World Championships and a bronze medal at the same event in 2014.

Toronto has been busy this offseason since losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the playoffs. Notable additions include goaltenders Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov, forwards Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Adam Gaudette and Jarnkrok, and defencemen Jordie Benn and Victor Mete.

General manager Kyle Dubas also worked out new deals for blueliners Mark Giordano and Timothy Liljegren.

The Maple Leafs saw No. 1 goaltender Jack Campbell leave for the Edmonton Oilers in free agency, with Ilya Mikheyev, Ondrej Kase and Ilya Lyubushkin among others to depart. Forward Pierre Engvall and defenceman Rasmus Sandin are restricted free agents who remain unsigned.
