The eccentric collection of art and artefacts at the Sir John Soane Museum is sharing space with new works by Marc Quinn.

The artist has unveiled a series of fragmentary 6ft tall glass fibre sculptures based on himself and his “muse”, Jenny Bastet, at 19th century architect Sir John’s former home in Lincoln’s Inn Fields.

Quinn said: “When they first suggested it I just didn’t think you could put any sculptures in there — it seemed so full. But it’s actually incredibly big.”

The show will feature twelve sculptures, all created from casts of Quinn and Bastet in a series of embraces. Quinn uses the sculptures to explore his interest in the idea of the fragment, as well as the physical ambiguities of human emotion.

This will be the first time that the new works, entitled All About Love, have been exhibited anywhere in the world.

Drawn From Life will run until September 23; entrance to the exhibition is free.
