Mariah Carey and boyfriend split amid reports she gave him '$25,000 a month' allowance

News just in – Mariah Carey has reportedly split from her backing dancer beau Bryan Tanaka.

The blonde beauty is said to have called time on her relationship with Bryan because he was jealous of her close bond with ex-husband Nick Cannon and his lavish spending sprees.

The news comes after reports emerged claiming the superstar was giving Bryan $25,000 a month as a “cash allowance”.

According to Life & Style magazine, the 47-year-old songstress was helping Bryan keep up with her glamorous lifestyle.

Mariah was previously engaged to billionare James Packer – who regularly splashed the cash on his fiancée – and sources told the magazine she “wants the same treatment from Bryan” and “she doesn’t care that he’s using her money to do it.”

But according to Gossop Cop, the story is untrue and whilst Bryan was on her payroll as a backing dancer, he’s never been given an additional allowance.

“While it’s true that Tanaka had been on her payroll, there is no such gift stipend. Carey’s rep tell us it’s not true that she’s fronting him big bucks to buy her presents,” they claimed on Monday.

An insider added to the publication: “[Bryan] makes his own money, and what he can afford, he buys her. Whenever he gets her something, it’s appreciated.”

However, Mariah reportedly grew tired of having to foot the bill for Bryan’s expensive taste in jewellery, while she also suspected he may have been using her to become famous in his own right.

Mariah has come a long way from the days of being a back up singer and sleeping on a mattress on the floor, so though the story isn’t true, we think she can spend her money any way that she pleases!

Meanwhile, the star recently revealed she fell in love with music at a very young age.

The ‘Butterfly’ singer explained: “I’ve always had this love affair with music, ever since I can remember. When I was like four years old, my mother encouraged me to sing.

“I started doing demos when I was like 12 years old, I was a backup singer. I moved to Manhattan alone as a teenage girl. It was an exciting time for me, even though I had nothing.

“I lived like on a mattress on the floor. I was writing my songs and being a horrible waitress. My demo tape ended up at Sony and they signed it away.”
