Mariah Carey reveals 'rough weeks' following mum and sister's deaths
Mariah Carey has shared her feelings on the shock of losing her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, on the same day.
The Fantasy singer took to Instagram to check in with her fans as she shared a clip of herself rehearsing her 2005 hit It's Like That.
"Back at work," she captioned the video. "It's been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone's love and support so much and I can't wait to see my fans in China & Brazil. Love you!"
Carey earlier revealed she was left heartbroken when her mum and sister passed away last month.
"My heart is broken that I've lost my mother this past weekend," she shared in a statement to People on 26 August. "Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day."
The Touch My Body singer added, "I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed."
Carey reportedly didn't see her older sister before she died, despite knowing she was sick. The US Sun alleged that the five-time Grammy winner had not contacted Alison when she entered hospice care weeks before she passed away.
Mariah has another sibling, brother Morgan Carey, although he and the pop star are also estranged.
