The "Rachel" haircut - famously popularized by Jennifer Aniston and her character on Friends - has been an iconic hairstyle for decades, and its impact was so far-reaching in the '90s that even superstars like Mariah Carey found a way to get in on the fun . . . sort of. Over the weekend following the long-awaited debut of Friends: The Reunion on HBO Max, Carey did some reminiscing and shared a throwback photo of herself during a performance, pointing out in the caption that she, too, once rocked the famous layered bob. In the photo, the singer is seen wearing her shoulder-length hair in a half-up style with a chunky bang.

"A sad attempt at the Rachel hairdo 馃槀," the caption reads. Aniston later caught wind of the photo and reference and politely disagreed with Carey's insistence that the haircut was a failure, writing "LOVE IT 馃敟" in the comments.

We guess no style can be that bad when you've got a nod of approval from the originator herself.
