‘Star Wars’ legend Mark Hamill has joined ‘Man Down’.

According to the Radio Times, the 64-year-old ‘Star Wars’ star has landed a role in the hilarious Channel 4 comedy series, created by Greg Davies.

“The man famed for being Luke Skywalker will play a new character in one episode of the upcoming third series of the anarchic Greg Davies comedy, they revealed. “C4 are keeping the role a secret but have confirmed that Hamill will not be playing himself.”

“He is a big fan of comedy and loves Man Down,” said their source. “He was really keen to do this.”

‘Man Down’ was created by comedian, Greg Davies, who also stars as the slightly dim-witted (and thoroughly anarchic) main character, Dan Davies. Other series regulars include the brilliant Roisin Conaty and Mike Wozniak, who return as Dan’s friends, Jo and Brian.

But the addition of Mark Hamill is quite something.

Other new faces include Steven Berkoff as the school’s new Eastern European caretaker, as well as ‘Blackadder’ veteran, Tony Robinson… who plays Dan’s new step-dad, Deadalus.

The new series apparently finds Dan at a crossroads – he knows he can’t carry on with his ridiculous shambles of a life… but can he really manage to sort himself out once and for all?

“We’re delighted to have Greg back with the Man Down team,” said Channel 4 boss, Nerys Evans. “We are in awe of quite how many utterly humiliating situations he’s willing to put himself through for the love of comedy. But we’re definitely in no mood to ask him to stop!”

Could we see a ‘Star Wars’ themed episode of ‘Man Down’?

Will Mark Hamill appear as himself? Or will we see him sink his teeth into a comedy role?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
