His return came as a big shock to viewers, who were left floored by the “epic” and “amazing” twist.
Mulan star Wen, who plays Fennic Shand in the spin-off, was overjoyed to share the screen with Hamill, and has since called it “truly one of the biggest highlights, not just in my career, but in my life”.
“You (& Luke) have been immensely inspirational & impactful to my childhood & as an adult,” she wrote on Twitter.
It turns out that Hamill is a fan of Wen, who also appeared in medical series ER.
He told his Twitter followers that he was "speechless" after reading her post.
“So this happened & I’m literally speechless, other than to say: the pleasure was all mine @MingNa!” he wrote, adding: “Muchâ¤ï¸, Marð« @themandalorian #YoureNotSoBadYourself.”
Wen replied saying that she had “reached nerd nirvana”.
