Mark Hamill reveals to Graham Norton that he trained for A YEAR for his 30-second Star Wars return

Star Wars' Mark Hamill has revealed that he trained for a year for his return to the films despite his appearance lasting under a minute.

Speaking on Friday's Graham Norton Show, Hamill who appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens for about 30 seconds said he did not know how short his scene would be.

"I trained for a year for that part! I never missed a session at the gym,” he said on the BBC show.

Hamill continued: “It was probably wise that J.J (Abrams) didn’t tell me the role was so small. I wouldn’t have been motivated to stay on the 'if it tastes good don’t eat it' diet.

"I could have been the size of Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now in those robes and nobody would know.”

Norton went on to ask Mr Hamill about the secrecy that surrounds the Star Wars films ahead of their release.

Hamill replied that “nobody cared “ about the first Star Wars script.

He said that by the time the second film was released scrutiny had become more intense.
