Mark Hamill trolls Star Wars fans over Luke in Ep IX

From Digital Spy

Star Wars fans love to wind themselves up into a right state over... well, practically everything nowadays, much to the delight of Mark Hamill.

The Luke Skywalker actor loves to troll and rib fans of the science fiction juggernaut on social media, especially when it comes to the direction that Disney has taken the movies (which, let's set the record straight, he was unsure of at first but came to understand and appreciate, and doesn't hate them like YouTube people would have you believe).

His latest pisstake comes in the form of a mock casting announcement, where he wrote "BREAKING NEWS: #StarWars #EpisodeIX writer/director JJ Abrams casts Empty Robe in latest installment of much anticipated space-saga."

There's probably someone out there going, 'well, ACTUALLY, Obi-Wan Kenobi's robe was left behind in A New Hope but he was wearing it when he reappeared in The Empire Strikes Back so this doesn't make canonical sense' without any sense of humour or irony. To that person we say 'shhhhh, just enjoy the film about space wizards and muppets'.

We're not sure if Hamill is returning for Episode IX. He recently shaved his beard, which has led fans to wonder if that's how he will appear as Force Ghost Luke. He's also said that he is less enthusiastic about the films now the Carrie Fisher has passed away.

Star Wars: Episode IX will be released in the US and the UK in December 2019.
