While Mark Robins knows the current focus at Coventry City is to start picking up more points, the manager insists the pressure is on his opposite number, Daniel Farke, ahead of this week’s match at Leeds United.

The Sky Blues have started the new Championship campaign poorly, with just one win from their opening six games, to leave them in 19th place in the table. The Whites, in contrast, have won three and sit comfortably in sixth place, albeit having lost one league game at Elland Road – a 1-0 defeat by Burnley.

“While you look forward to all the games, this is a really good game, a really good atmosphere,” said Robins, whose side will be backed by almost 3,000 travelling fans.

“Elland Road is always a good place to go and play if you’re a footballer but it can also be tough because they have got a lot of good players. And even though they have sold a few players for good money, they have replaced them pretty well. They are managed really well and Daniel Farke has done an incredible job, really.

“He was really unlucky not to go up last season (losing 1-0 to Southampton in the play-off final), as we were the season before, and they will be looking to do that this season. But the pressure is different at Leeds United than it is at Coventry City, albeit we want the same end goal, and I think the demands are greater for Daniel than they are for me.”

He added: “Leeds United have the ability to go and pay for the players that can do that from minute one, so we come up against different sides with different qualities, and Daniel is a top coach and manager. He’s done brilliantly, both at Norwich and Leeds United.

“He almost got them up at the first time of asking last season but I know that the pressure is on them. It really is because they know that they have got to get up. That’s something that’s difficult but that comes with the territory of having a top manager and a top squad and a fanbase that is large, passionate and has a waiting list of about 20,000 people which means they are going to develop the stadium again. So that comes with the territory there.”
