Mark Ruffalo stars in first look at new Netflix series

Netflix has unveiled a first look at Mark Ruffalo in a new limited series from the creators behind Stranger Things and Peaky Blinders.

Directed by Stranger Things' Shawn Levy and written by Peaky Blinders boss Steven Knight, All the Light We Cannot See tells the decade-long story of a blind French girl named Marie-Laure LeBlanc who seeks refuge with her uncle during WWII, and Werner Pfennig, a teenager who is enlisted by Hitler's regime to track down illegal radio broadcasts.

After sharing a secret connection, Marie-Laure and Werner find faith in humanity and discover the possibility of hope during dark times.

"All the Light We Cannot See tells a story of the extraordinary power of human connection and a beacon of light that can lead us through even the darkest of times," reads the press release.

Mark Ruffalo stars in the brand new teaser trailer as Marie-Laure's father Daniel LeBlanc, a locksmith at Paris' Museum of Natural History who flees Nazi occupied France along with his daughter.

Starring alongside Ruffalo in the four-part limited series, which is Based on Anthony Doerr's Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name, newcomers Aria Mia Loberti and Nell Sutton play the older and younger Marie-Laure respectively, while Dark star Louis Hofmann plays Werner.

They are joined by House star Hugh Laurie as Uncle Etienne, Lars Eidinger as Von Rumpel, and Marion Bailey as Madame Manec.

As well as a teaser trailer, fans have been treated to a series of first-look images which show Ruffalo beaming at Sutton's young Marie-Laure. The new images also showcase a look at Laurie's Uncle Etienne as well as the teenage Marie-Laure and Werner.

All the Light We Cannot See premieres on Netflix on November 2.
