Marks & Spencer has launched a behind the scenes podcast

Marks & Spencer is a treasured British institution. Since the first store opened in 1904, it's been the go-to place for everything from bras to bread for generations.

Even though M&S may now be part of the British retail landscape, you have to give it to them: they know how to stay with the times.

The brand renamed themselves Markle & Sparkle for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding, kitted out Gareth Southgate with his now iconic waistcoat at the 2018 World Cup and, now, has launched its very first podcast.

"The M&S Podcast", which is now live on iTunes, will give you a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the British retailer. Each episode focuses on a different topic; from the history of the high street to the issues facing businesses today and sustainable fashion.

Presented by former LBC, ITN and BBC broadcaster, Rachel Silver, the series will be split up into three series, each spanning six-episodes.

Through the series, Rachel will be joined by M&S colleagues and execs, as well as guests from the world of business, campaign groups and members of the government.

Talking about the new venture, she said: “This is an exciting new step for M&S. We are inundated with requests for behind-the-scenes access and more information on the issues and campaigns we work on. The M&S Podcast is a great way to give a deeper insight to customers, shareholders, colleagues and journalists."

The first series will focus on sustainability with the first episode, 'The Cotton Challenge,' out now. It centres on M&S's 'Plan A', an initiative put in place by the retailers to help build a more sustainable future.

In contrast, episode two will take a look back at 2013's horsemeat crisis, so it's sure be an an eclectic mix of topics providing insight into the high street, retail and our beloved M&S.
