Cast your mind back to the foggy mists of last week, to the very weird moment that Gaz Beadle staged his own pregnancy in order to promote the 14th season of Geordie Shore.

The strange ad was slammed for being insensitive in the light of Charlotte Crosby's ectopic pregnancy, and Marnie Simpson now has come out to apologise for the whole thing.

"We certainly weren't out to hurt Charlotte. But now I look at it, I can see how it's insensitive and I feel bad," Marnie, Charlotte's ex co-star told the Daily Star.

"Sorry Char," she added.

MTV told Digital Spy that: "MTV is well known for its entertaining and creative promotions around its programming.

"The promo for the upcoming series of Geordie Shore is designed to introduce our audience to some of the show's new characters. It bears no significance or connection to any of the cast's private lives."

Less than 12 months ago Charlotte revealed to Heat in an emotional interview all the details of her baby loss.

Charlotte said at the time: "We were filming the advert for Geordie Shore: Big Birthday Battle. I thought I had a really bad period because I was bleeding and cramping – I can't describe the pain, it was awful."

Geordie Shore returns to MTV on Tuesday, March 28 at 10pm.
