A married couple were killed when they were hit by a car while walking along a village road.

The two pedestrians who died after the collision have been named by police as Sandra Dangerfield, 66, and her 72-year-old husband Michael

They both died after the collision in the village of Meden Vale near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, at about 1.25pm on Saturday.

Nottinghamshire Police released a photograph of the couple smiling together and said family members had asked for privacy at this difficult time.

Mr and Mrs Dangerfield's niece Gemma Louise Bowler told the Nottingham Post the couple "were lovely people, good-hearted and would do anything for anyone."

"All our family are devastated and very heartbroken,” she added.

An investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash in Netherfield Lane is continuing.

In a statement the police said on Sunday: "Detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident but are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact them on 101, quoting incident 450 of 14 October.
