The latest series of Channel 4's Married at First Sight premiered tonight (March 20), with two new couples walking down the aisle having first met on their wedding day.

It's a crazy concept but apparently it's all very scientific, as the couples are matched up by relationship experts after going through physical and mental exams as well as compatibility tests.

Once wed, they have eight weeks to decide if they really do want to be together forever.

Tonight's episode focused on nurse Steph and property manager Jonathan. Both were fed up with the dating scene and decided to take the drastic step to find love.

Before her wedding day, Steph admitted to having trust issues, which was why she thought the Married at First Sight route was best.

But viewers saw a red flag when Jonathan, who has mostly female friends, asked one of them to act as his best man.

When it was time for the wedding, the only hitch was the ring not fitting on Steph's finger, but everything else went like any 'normal' wedding would.

And the couple's friends and family seemed to think they were a perfect match.

But Steph didn't really look like the happiest bride during the wedding reception, despite telling the camera that she "felt good" about Jonathan and that he seemed really easy to get along with.

And viewers weren't entirely convinced by her demeanour either.

But people were impressed by Jonathan's gift of massive Jenga pieces – the building blocks of any relationship, for sure.

Next week we'll see Jonathan and Steph on their honeymoon, where things will hopefully be a little less awkward. Fingers crossed.

Married at First Sight airs on Channel 4.
