A MARRIED police sergeant who had an affair with a junior officer was suspected of having a sexual relationship after he lost weight and grew a "trendy beard".

Adam Reed, 40, will face disciplinary proceedings at South Wales Police next week over alleged inappropriate behaviour with PC Jemma Dicks.

Sgt Reed and PC Dicks, 28, are both accused of "discreditable conduct" following claims they engaged in sex acts inside Central Cardiff police station during their 10-month relationship which ended in August 2018.

The allegations came to light after Sgt Reed was accused of taking secret photographs of another woman officer's feet without permission when she was taking a statement from PC Dicks, 28, in his office.

He is said to have admitted taking the photograph because he had a "foot fetish".

One of Sgt Reed's former colleagues said: "Everybody suspected something was going on - Adam lost a load of weight and even grew a trendy beard. He was infatuated with her."

"But it all went wrong and she lodged a complaint about him. That's when it all came out what they've been up to in the station."

Sgt Reed, who has since left the force, is also accused of three charges of "discreditable conduct", while PC Dicks is also accused of breaching behaviour standards.

The 40-year-old is also alleged to have  had sexual intercourse with an unnamed PCSO while on duty at Cardiff Central during his affair with PC Dicks in May 2018

PC Dicks followed in her father Mark's footsteps to become a full-time officer at South Wales Police in May 2016, the same year he died at the age of 53. The 28-year-old requested to wear her father's old collar number following his death.

South Wales Police has been contacted by the Daily Telegraph for comment.
