A married teacher who seduced a 16-year-old pupil and had sex with him at her home and in a park has been jailed for just a year.

Brandi Lynn Vaughn admitted one charge of using an electronic device to induce a minor to engage in sexual activities, but her legal team was able to negotiate a plea deal.

The crime is punishable by one to five years in prison, but the 25-year-old will be eligible for parole after serving a fifth of her term.

Two counts of first-degree sexual abuse; two counts of third-degree sodomy; one count of third-degree rape and one count of evidence tampering were dropped from the case in Berea, Kentucky.

Vaughn, who taught science at Madison Southern High School, was arrested in August 2015, according to The Richmond Register.

Police say the teacher confessed to investigators to having sex with the then 16-year-old male student twice.

In a request for probation, attorney Michael Eubanks told judge William G Clouse that Vaughn has “nothing but remorse” for her actions.

One incident took place at a state park, while the other took place at the teacher’s home.

The allegations and later arrest led to the breakdown of the woman’s marriage.

Vaughn, formerly Brandi Whitaker, has resumed using her maiden name since being divorced.
